- Comment from author about the poem: 17T/17B, 5-7-5 Haiku inspired by “Theology and Sanity” by Frank Sheed “Processions in eternity”. In describing the Trinity: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit, Sheed challenges his readers to find the new verb “for which it has no word” (between “generated” and “generating”) to describe the infinite and eternal action of God’s divine nature in the three persons of the Holy Trinity. A new word challenge! - too good to pass up for this poet. My response is not a word but a Haiku - with a hint of Father Robert Spitzer’s “sacred notion of time” and “collapsing time theory” (crediblecatholic.com) in the 17 syllable title (17T), the use of capitalization to emphasize God’s eminence, and the two “generate” phrases within the 17 syllable body (17B). The body of my poem is presented in 3 lines, in the 5-7-5 Haiku tradition. Regarding “God generated” and “God is generating” Sheed remarks: “It may be well for the mind to use both phrases, moving from one to the other, until the mind finds itself in some way seeing both in one new verb for which it has no word.”

A fine write Gary. I heard a true, but sounding hyfalutin phrase, something like: 'God, the All-Eternal, Ever-Existing Being....'And all them Omni words too - omnipresent, omniscient, etc.
