Tune: Ode To Joy
('Joyful, joyful we adore thee')
Based on a Collect = Formal Prayer
Words in italics are the words of the Collect,
as close as I can get to them to the original.
***********
O God, from whom all holy desires
All good counsels, your inspires
And all just works from you proceed
Prayers of your people you heed
Give unto your servants that peace
That shall never end or cease
That peace which the world, it cannot
Give unto us, nor allot
Thus may our hearts be to you set
To obey your commands yet
And that we being delivered
From our enemies we feared
So to pass our time here in rest
And quietness, by you blessed
We ask [this] for love of your Son sure
Jesus Christ, who reigns e'ermore.

- Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 8.7.8.7. 8.7.8.7. metre. Maybe needing more solemn tune? Though 'modernising' it without changing the meaning of the Collect/Prayer. The title sounds a bit old-fashioned maybe. You 'invoking' there?!

Thanks B&A. I ruined a song/carol. Some words of it are: 'Joy to the world - not! Cos I started singing!' heehee. You done Joel 2 - prophecy of Pentecost?
