BONFIRE NIGHT ~ OK ~ ANGELA ๐Ÿงก๐Ÿ’™ BRIAN ~ AN ACROSTIC SONNET !

ANGELA & BRIAN

REMEMBER ~ REMEMBER ~ THE FIFTH OF NOVEMBER !

B ONFIRE NIGHT celebrates the failed plot to blow up PARLIAMENT

O N Fifth of November 1605 and assassinate King James I

F AWKES was the man selected to ignite the GUNPOWDER

I N the cellar under the House of Parliament in LONDON ! Please

R EALISE that the Gunpowder Plot was not The Catholic Church

E SSENTIALLY it was FANATICS like GUY FAWES who was ENGLISH.

N OBODY knew about the PLOT and it would have succeeded

I F  SOME of the Conspiritors (not wanting to kill innocents) had not

G IVEN the game away by writing to one of the MPS asking

H IM not to attend Parliament that Night !

T HE KING heard about the PLOT and Guy Fawkes was captured !

O N Bonfire Night in the UK ~ WE burn an effigy of GUY FAWKES

K INGS & QUEENS still rule in UK ~ We*ll never be a REPUBLIC !

Thanks for visiting ~ comments please ~ Love A & B ๐Ÿงก๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿงก๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿงก

I would stress that it was not THE CATHOLIC  CHURCH that

initiated the GUNPOWDER PLOT but a Group of Devout Catholics

led by THOMAS CATESBY an Englishman. They thought that KING

JAMES would be much less tolerant than QUEEN ELIZABETH I and

plotted to assassinate HIM ! Because they realised innocent MPS

would also die  they warned some to stay away from Parliament

thus undermining their PLOT !  QUEEN ELIZABETH II is not a

CATHOLIC but they have freedom to Worship in the UK. The Pope

has paid very successful visits to the UK and is always WELCOME !

I personally find today intriguing, to think it's okay to keep burning a human (figure) for their thoughts and actions, we should also have a day for hanging and drowning witches!

I've never really seen what this royal family Unite for this kingdom and I definitely struggle to see the great most of the time.

We are a funny lot on this rock, with our traditions of timelessly going round the clock!

I do look forward to the day this is all in the history books!

    Thanks for the thoughts

Thanks DAN ~ much appreciated ! Well a lot of our greatness lies in our History and Colonisation etc ! This is why the Commonwealth is still so important. We also have a great HISTORY of Music ~ Art & Literature also in Science & Technology ! We also punch well above out weight in most Sports ! Personally I think a very stable successive MONARCHY is one of our great assets and gives a rather shifting Political Base some stability & contunuity ! Because it is by succession ~ Charles who has been more than ready to be KING for over 50 Years may never be KING ! That however would give William a good lengthy REIGN ! Im 36 and because they are both in my age-range I have an empathy for both William & Harry. Harry & Megan will make something of their LIVES and not end up like Princess Margaret !
Back to the SUBJECT ~ I think we burn effigies of FAWKES over 400 yeras later because He dared to attempt to BLOW UP THE KING ! Thanks for caring & sharing !

      Peace & Joy

Don't see much common wealth, are you in living in the UK?

Was Diana not a wake up call to this archaic idea?

I am nobody's subject my friend, we are all equal on this rock, give me an army and then I'll apologise after and show how great my intentions are to share the wealth!

Again I think you for inspiring me to put my thoughts in my poetic form I shall continue it with a bit more now.

        Always appreciated

Oh, it is poetry, I say. I don't know how you get time to be so informative to us!
Fido was involved - he joins in that song 'Bow, wow, wow, Bold Guy Fawkes...! I dunno what it means. Maybe he had a dog?!
Aww - one year in 'Penny for the Guy' I sat in the pushchair that the Guy was in, for a rest. Someone came along and chucked ME on the bonfire! Doh! Wish they had gone to Specsavers. It's all true ya know. lol.
