goodly Godly Gifts

Gary Edward Geraci

Kept from keeping passion,

Untied by tried and true

Ways to truth, not fashion;

Clear sighted: Lady in blue.

Press through vines and vice action,

Free at last for compassion,

Fed on Food fit to feed creation.

  • Comment from author about the poem: The seven gifts of the Holy Spirit are Knowledge, Understanding, Wisdom, Counsel, Piety, Fear of God, and Fortitude. Taking the first letter of each gift, the acronym, KUWCPFF emerges: a mnemonic device; an encoded message in the form of an alphabetical technique to enable immediate recollection of the seven priceless gifts promised by God to every human being. My seven line acrostic poem, written in a sprung rhythm, is built over the acronym KUWCPFF.

    A fine write Gary. Looks a bit like a Chapel I know here in UK. It's rather in the back of beyond, in the country. I don't get to it much these days, but do sometimes, weather permitting.

    The country churches, tucked away in the countryside, seem to me to be all the more inviting and, they are usually left unlocked too. Thanks for stopping by - my doors are always unlocked and open for kind souls.
