My Heart is Hollow

my heart is hollow

it beats for no one

except itself

my heart is selfish

this I know

to continue beating

even when I beg

i beg it to stop

with every beat

more color stains the foiled heart

the red darkens

until it inevitably

overflows, overflowing

it cannot be contained

by something so small

until it falls to pieces

and all that room

is suddenly

more than enough

and my heart

becomes empty

once again
