Tune: Mannheim
('Dear Lord and Father of mankind')
Psalm 39 v.4-7
*********
LORD, I be small, but you are great
And you know all my state
Make me to know measure of days
That I have, an to trust always
Hope in what your word says
Hope in what your word says
My days as a hand-breadth they be
Small as a span, I see
My age is as nothing before
You, who do live for evermore
Faithful and strong and sure
Faithful and strong and sure
Truly each one at best is small
As vain, as vapour all
Living as a shadow, disquiet
They have, and unrest in their heart
Help us, LORD, not depart
Help us, LORD, not depart
Not depart from you, you will hold
Keep your sheep in your fold
Though weak and frail compared to you
You strengthen us, empower, renew
We hope in you, e'er true
We hope in you, e'er true
