Don't Remind Me

SerenWise

Love on the cheap

But at great expense.

Will I ever learn?

I'll live in hopeful

Future tense.

I wish for love

But live in fear,

Anxieties flooding back,

Pulling me away

From this beaten track.

Your mark lingers

On my fragile neck

So encircled

By your strong hands;

Bruises of your fingertips

On my thighs -

I escaped the den of the bear,

You never really wanted me there.
