Playing Both Sides

ForeverJesus7

When things were getting,
out of hand,
David was forced,
to leave his own land.
He went where no one,
would think to find -
the land of the Philistines,
for a time.
He rose through the ranks,
and made a name,
for himself,
and even a few friends,
as he started to shine.
The same people he rivaled,
for many years,
he now fought beside them,
and called them his peers.
After his years of service,
David was treated as a spy.
So he was forced again,
to flee or die.
Nevertheless,
there was not a whole lot to say.
He was needed back,
in Israel,
anyway.
So sometimes,
what seems wrong,
might actually be right,
just as long,
as we know the truth,
and do not loose sight.

  • Comment from author about the poem: For many who do not know who the Philistines were, I am sure that you heard the story of David and Goliath. Goliath was a Philistine. Just like how David's life was full of twists and turns, sometimes we also have to play both sides in life. This piece is based on true events. The inspiration for this piece was actually taken from 1Samuel 27:1 - 28:2. Persistence is key
