Santita

Soul-Cry

As they yell
each voice reaches
a decibel higher
than the last

It is an effort
to be the loudest
the strongest
the most heard
the one to have
the last word

Their voices
are thunderous
laced with agony
ignited in fury

I sit in silence
watching
as each person
neglects
to recognize this
for what it truly is

We lash out
we scream
we cry
we hurl atrocities
at one another
because of our own pain
because of wounds bleeding
that go without healing

The woman
with hazel eyes
stands her ground
her fire producing
the fiercest burns
her words
suffocating all others

Her soul cries the loudest

It is a cruel burden to carry
lifetimes of tragedy on your own
I don’t have much to offer
but to you I extend my hand

So if you are to walk
if you are to yell
if you are to cry
you can do so
with your hand
wrapped in mine

A fine write Santita. Also a typical evening with me and KP.! Though only about once a year, as I hardly see here. She's always in the papers or something! lol.
I started it. I only said 'Botox again, KP?' heehee.

    • Santita

hahahaha you never fail to make me laugh. Perhaps you should embrace her!
Thanks for dropping in, my friend.

      • orchidee

I tried to embrace her, but it felt like hugging a fish - the botox lips, you see! I am cruel - she spiked my drinks that Halloween, and made me say 'yes' to marrying her! lol.

Wow that touches a nerve. "I will stand by you with unconditional love" I read in your words. How anyone alone would love to have that strength from one other person. I know i surely would.

So lovely to see you writing here again my dear friend.

        • Santita

You read exactly right, my friend. It is exactly that; unconditional love. Thank you for taking a deeper look at this piece and feeling it in the right places. I am grateful.

A deep look at what constitutes true love and which when offered and received will bring added strength - -- your wise and well chosen words fill the heart of this reader with tenderness remembered - thank you dear Santita - - and a big welcome back.

          • Santita

Your words here are a gift, dear Fay. I am touched to know that this piece reaches your heart as it was something more personal, and emotional for me. Thank you so much from my heart to yours.

Strength comes in many forms. Your pride in your mother’s is a special one.

You have come back to this site with an exceptionally written and encouraging piece. Your diversity with your poetry is admirable.

            • Santita

Thank you for your kind words here, Johnny. I think poetry should be diverse, if we are looking to grow as writers. Plus, there are an abundance of topics to write on; it's good to switch it up. Appreciate your visit very much.

I wish to believe I could and your words say I should but my voice gets tension at times that are inappropriate.

That's when I bleed the most and fear no hand can comfort, although now I've read your rhymes.

Let's hope my spirit remembers next time, together we shine!

Always a pleasure to feel your vibe :)

                Hi Dan,
I know what you mean. It can be hard to open up, especially in places our souls, vibrations are misunderstood. It takes the right person for us to bring forth that clarity of voice you speak of. Thanks for your words here. Sending good vibes to you and yours!

May you walk on hand in hand with unconditional love for eternity.
Good to see you back Santita.

                Andy

                • Santita

Many thanks, Andy. Always nice to receive your positive words.

                  Santita,

everybody has spoken about the theme so I won't repeat their views which I completely agree with.

Structurally this piece is placed in perfect sequence with an effortless story-telling style.

The descriptive approach builds crafting an image to go with the emotional; all merging into yet again a piece of pure quality & substance.

                  Greart work as always.

                  Unsub.

                  • Santita

I am glad that this piece made sense structure-wise because I was actually unsure about how it would read from someone else's perspective.
Thanks for always taking an in-depth look at the poetry, from all angles!
                    Much appreciated!

                    • Unsub

                      Santita,

We both know when you take on a theme you do your homework & ensure it is dealt with perfectly; sometimes we forget about the other aspects of poetry which I know you are passonate about too.

Your poetry has always intrigued me & your writing style is amazing...but I've told you that before but it never hurts to be reminded.

You'll make a great poet one day! LOL!

                      Unsub.

                      Santita,
I just came by the site for a quick look, having been absent for a while. Am I ever glad I did. Your poem is incredible. The title says it all. It takes a special person to see through the noise to the underlying reasons. And you are such a writer. Love the last stanza where you offer support without judgement. Well done!
