Surviving The Storm

Vanessa201518

Every storm shall pass
Its hard at first after surviving... really hard
You may ask if leaving was the right decision
After the shock, after surviving the storm
When the fog lifts
It will start to get easier
Someone may ask how you keep your head
up so high
After all you have been through
You can say its because no matter what you
are a survivor
Not a victim
Never be ashamed of any scares
It means you where simply stronger than
whatever tried to hurt you
Don't ever forget that no matter how dark it
gets or how far you fall
You are never out of the fight
You will win this fight
Life can kick you around
Sometimes it scares you and it beats you
up
But there is a day when you realize that you're
not just a survivor
You're tougher than anything it throws your way
This storm too shall pass
You got to dance like there is nobody watching
Love like you'll never hurt
Sing like there's nobody listening
Live like its heaven on earth
You are a survivor and a fighter
Embrace the spirit
Keep the faith in your pocket
Laugh a lot
Indulge in confidence
Grow with each tear
Breath in positively
Remain gorgeous
Always remember you are loved
Have hope and never give up
Some have to learn how to live without
wearing th shame others want them to wear
There is a solace in breaking your silence
A strength of spirit when sharing your truth
It all starts with the choice to live on the other
side
You have been victimized
You where in a fight that was not a fair fight
You did not ask for the fight that someone may
have lost
There is no shame in losing such fights
You have reached the stage of survivor and are
no longer a slave of victim status
You look back with sadness rather than hate
You will look forward with hope rather than dispair
You may never forget, but you need to not constantly
remember
You where a victim
You are a survivor
This too shall pass

  • Comment from author about the poem: I wrote this for the people that have gone through a horrible experience emotionally, physically, and mentally. My aunt was abused although i don't remember much but i know that it was really bad. So i kinda of hope this helps others who need some comfort in what they went through or are going through.
