Autism.

A passing lyric

The world is so big,

loud, fast, and scary

so don't be offended

when someone is wary.

If your face is not one

that has shown up before

don't expect an answer

when you ask for the score.

Don't throw out a question

and expect a reply

just because you're outgoing

others may be shy.

You may be tough

and with lots you can cope

but for others the day

could be lacking in hope.

Every day tasks,

or at the very least, some

are not always fun

for someone on the spectrum.

so please withhold

on your humour or sarcasm

it may not register

to someone with autism.

  • dusk arising

    I missed this one.
Your words strike home to me for their truth, depth and pure worth.
My daughter, now in her forties, has only once to my knowledge looked into my eyes.

    • A passing lyric

      It’s tough
      For anyone life is hard
We push as hard as we can
      But life weighs heavy
Much love to you and your beautiful daughter πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›
