Holding On

SheWasTheSun

There’s a graceful space

Called Letting Go

That lives in my heart and soul

Letting go

Grows every day

Determined

to make this hurt goes away

But Letting Go

Lives at war

With a petulant, jealous child

She screams and kicks

And with the tightest of grips

They call her

Holding On

Time favors Letting Go

The old man gives her strength

Each day that passes without you

Letting Go feels a little more safe

Yet Holding On

Seems to grow

More angry, more stubborn

More insistent

The stronger she sees

Letting Go become

The deeper

Her nails cut your skin
