As I wander through the empty streets
With bright street lights shining down
I think of everyone the world needs
And how they are nowhere to be found.
A new car flies so suddenly
past all around it
Not taking in all the beauty
Stopping not even for a minute.
Toxic but trendy
Deadly but designer
Can no one live without these murderous machines?

- Comment from author about the poem: I wrote this poem about climate change, and I refer to the car as something that is killing our planet. It is quite a short poem, and I repeated the first four lines in order to create a dramatic end.

Brian Here - Good Evening Grace - Welcome to MPS it is an empathetic site. Thanks for sharing your first poem on a very important theme - CLIMATE CHANGE ! I am interested in the Environment and support Greta Thunberg. We are 31 (Angela) and 36 (Brian) She will still be alive in 2100 when things will be much worse on Planet Earth. The population will be in excess of 10 billion (now 7.5 B) CO2 will have risen also Global Warming ! The amount of CO2 from passenger vehicle emmissions rises every year and is population related ! Car emmisions also contain acid gases SO2 & NO2 which are very corrosive and cause acid rain. We are all very selfish and the majority of car owners in the USA - UK and other Developed Countries - know we are the problem - but refuse to give them up becaus of their convenience and necessity for a variety of reasons ! We do uses BIKES in Spring Summer & Autumn for short journeys !
Love the elegant structure (Rhyme & Rhythm) of your Poem - repetition is very important in poetry for emphasis ! More poems please !
