A Sweet Lie

ByCatieLight

Is it okay to love the things a person does but not the person themselves?

Is it okay to have silence that can only be broken by moans and promises of ecstasy?

Can you be happy with a love like that?

Or is it just a distraction from the truth?

The truth that you are just afraid to be alone.

That it's just nice to have someone even if they aren't meant for you.

That if you truly let yourself feel, you wouldn't be able to stop.

Or you would have to make it stop completely.

Maybe it's okay, okay to only feel what you can handle.

Maybe one day I'll be able to let it all in.

I whisper the sweet lie, not believing but convincing.

Telling myself that it's all okay.

Oh, what a sweet lie.
