I watch you dig yourself into a deeper hole

With every word upon your bitter tongue

You look to speak until you offend

Your freshly dug grave you finally descend

I watch you dig yourself into an early grave

With every word upon your forked tongue

You argue hard until your victims weep

Your freshly dug grave, so dark & deep

Dig, dig deep into the ground

Within the earth you will drown

Dig, dig deep into the dirt

Where you'll no longer hurt

Dig, dig deep into the ground

Within the dirt you will drown

Dig, dig deep into the earth

There you'll be of no worth

You watch me dig myself into a deeper hole

My every word is violent upon my tongue

I look to shout until I finally offend

My freshly dug grave becomes my end

You watch me dig myself into an early grave

My every word upon my pointed tongue

I battle hard until my victims weep

My freshly dug grave, so black & bleak

Does it necessarily have to be a grave, if we 'dig ourselves deeper into a hole'? We might just be getting more confused and complicated as we go along - no change there then?! heehee.

yes it does necessarily have to be a grave.

The right words at the right time. A few of us have been tossing around vulgarities disrespectfully. I’m probably the most guilty. My grave has been dug. It’ll be no surprise if I’m booted.

We lost LittleGift; possibly she got fed up with the crude humor. It would be good to know the reason for her departure.

Once again my friend, you have written an eye-opening and intelligent piece.

I did not know LittleGift had gone - any idea what happened?

don't think you're guilty anymore than the next poet. Don't see why you'd be booted; plenty more in the firing line before you. (BH).

Yes I'm aware of LittleGift going; if it was crude humour it wasn't yours as I saw your exchanges & she was laughjing with us both...I possibly know who may have been the one as we do seem to have another rude & creepy one towards the ladies lurky our forum.

I like the way you turned this on its head.

Well one minute I was up & then I was 6 foot down; landed on my head too!

If you do dig a hole and fall into it all you have to do is look up and see the light - and me with a rope to pull you out.

            • Unsub

not if you fall down the hole in the dark!

              • Goldfinch60

But the light is always with me Unsub.

It's pretty dark down that hole Dan but I dig your words as always.

                Ex animo, Alan

Wow...this is very dark...and you not only talk about someone you don't luke and their demise but you turn it around and fuck yourself up w the same energy...i like it nonetheless

I try sometimes to turn it around & follow a less than expected outcome.
