The cruelest summer

AJ

Listening to a summer anthem

Surrounded by different heads and bodies

Far away from the ones I know now

The ones I love now

The ones who give me the love I lacked in that haze

I imagined only the nearest future

And the nightmare ended when it did

I never dreamt

That I’d still be caught up here, now

And I wonder if it will ever go away

Somehow,

I know it won’t
