Santita

Sanctuary

Pregnant with prickly pear fragrance
emollient, apricot-mornings glow
in the open-air sanctuary
where marigold whispers softly flow
Chanting a twilit welcome
that silences the endless clamor
of a restless, jittery world
caught up in superficial glamour

Within this lung of quietude
life's rhythm cycles endlessly
creating an aromatic scene
beneath the velvet mesquite trees
This ancient desert oasis
offers serenity’s sweet breath
in company of protective mountains
for overburdened minds to find rest

    Santita,

Yeah yeah whatever! Stop showing off by posting one of the best ever poems here on MPS. It’s not big & it’s not clever. Allow us mere minions of poetry to catch up!

Few words needed to express the quality of delivery, word usage & pure genius wordsmith(wo)manship!

Overall; not bad; could do better! Lol!

    Sublime!

    Unsub.

    • Santita

haha I will try to do better next time!
Thank you so much for your feedback, and you certainly aren't a poetic minion! Super glad that you enjoyed it!

An eloquent sanctuary Santita! I'm dashing to it - to get away from KP's nagging, of course! She's after me money again for more Botox! heehee.

      • Santita

Well if you are trying to avoid KP, this is the place to go. She won't ever find you there--there's no botox to be found! :)

          • Santita

Thank you a million times, dear Fay. I felt the best way to portray the beauty of this Sanctuary was with poetic images, delighted you saw them.

Can picture you there in the dusty heat at one with your surroundings. Casting off society's web of painful disregard and plunder to be you.
Content to be alone yet not alone. Absorbing the energy of this natural environment to recharge your verve. The magic carpet you walk upon.

              • LAWLESS

Gorgeously woven. An absolute pleasure to read from beginning to end.

I believe I have found the sanctuary you describe. Colorado has brought great peace to my son and I.

Do you have a book published? If not, you really should pursue it.

              • Goldfinch60

That sanctuary is there for all of us when we are at peace with ourselves.
                Great write Santita.

Amazing poem. I love your twisty turny play with words. You're like a cat playing with an alphabet mouse
