A good Haiku Gary. I'm not into asking Saints to pray for us, though it is in some Anglo-Catholic Churches too.
Thanks Orchidee - yes, I know, it's a Catholic perspective that draws us to pray to the saints (although many cultures honor their dead in some pretty amazing yet respectful rituals - a product of our DNA? I don't think so.)
A person I know might call a Saint 'Naughty Newman' now, for 'defecting'! Oohh!
Oh but you've got to love his brilliance! Do read something of John Henry Newman, Orchidee - you'll love the Lord all the more when it's time to put it down.
And yet I read a less milder comment. Not out of chagrin, that had 'defected from Anglican, but a sort of 'oh hell and damnation' comment - not exactly saying 'traitor' or 'defector' but ranting a bit that he was canonised! There's his hymns too, we know - very good.
