THIS POEM IS RETROSPECTIVE & WRITTEN IN 2070 (I'LL BE 87 !) VISITING THE LOCAL VILLAGE CHURCH & SEEING MY FRIENDS NAMES ON THE TOMBSTONES !
Well do I remember my Old Village Church
Reminds Me of my youthful days
Their absence leaves me in the lurch
For some have passed ~ or gone their separate ways !
Reminds Me of my youthful days
Where are the Lads & Lasses ~ that I used to know ?
For some have passed ~ or gone their separate ways
Where are some living now ~ where did they go ?
Where are the Lads & Lasses ~ that I used to know ?
Some within the Churchyard ~ under stones
Where are some living now ~ where did they go ?
Some in distant Lands and some just RIP and only bones !
Some within the the Churchyard ~ under stones
Their absence leaves me in the Lurch
Some in distant Lands and some just RIP and only bones
Well do I remember my Old Village Church !
Thanks for visiting ~ comments welcome ~ Love BRIAN 💛💛💛💛💛
Im only 36 but already some of my Friends have passed over (prematurely) to the Spirit World. The poem is set (written) in 2070 when Im (DV) 50 years older. I know that many of my current older Friends will have passed over into Paradise ~ AMEN. I will have lost touch with many who will have moved to distant Region. C*est la Vie. Friends come & go as we get older. With Social Media it is easier to keep in touch but some slip through the net ! Angela & I do visit those that are currently RIP in the Churchyard ~ but we know that their Eternal Spirits are in Paradise ~ Forever with the LORD ~ AMEN ! As a Committed Christian I believe that when I DIE my Eternal Spirit will go to Heaven (Paradise) to be forever with the Lord ! I have the same *Blessed Expectation* for all my Christian Friends ~ AMEN ! Love & Peace to ALL ~ ANGELA & BRIAN 💛💛💛💛💛💛💛

A fine write B&A. I remember when...… from 1066! Oh no, Orchi, not a blow-by-blow account to bore us to death! heehee. As bad as having to listen to the in-laws holiday report in brain-numbing detail.
I could set this to a hymn-tune if you wish, with only minor variations? You've started me singing - for better or for worse?! You having that well-know wedding hymn, as I and KP did (Kate Price):'Fight the good fight?' I'm still fighting it, that's for sure.
