Is there a thread that binds and ties…
an artist to his soul
Does it thin or thickly mend,
to come apart or tightly hold
Is it there to patch the deepest tear,
with the essence of its form
Does its very nature reattach,
when in fury it is torn
Will it stitch a quilt of memories,
from a past that’s ripped and frayed
Can it hem the truth within arms reach
—when again we’ve lost our way
(Villanova Pennsylvania: September, 2016)
Beyond The Thunder
A whirlwind to the ages,
I gave up on today
All voiced precipitation,
for someone else to spray
Writing above what’s forecast,
for readers yet unborn
My words beyond the thunder
—to ride on distant storms
(Villanova Pennsylvania: September, 2016)
A Baby Cries
The bike broke down,
my money gone,
Beale Street calling
—Memphis in my dreams
The diner’s empty,
last quarter found,
the jukebox playing
—Memphis in my dreams
The waitress smiles,
she’s off at six,
her place a walk
—Memphis in my dreams
The kindness of strangers,
a baby cries,
the sun’s come up
—Memphis in my dreams
(Dreamsleep: March, 2020)
Darkness Weaves
Clothing the world
in hate and destruction
Shame is the loom
that weaves damnation

Kurt,
A competent seamstress will find the “thread that binds and ties...”
as the finest of seamstresses,
my Mom,
would say.
Your poem made me think of my Mom and her special relationship to the needle and thread.
Thank you for sharing.
