notes on loving me

Hazel Kaye

Do not love me

in parts

or in waves.

Love me

the way you love

a strong whiskey -

I swear my kiss will warm your throat

just the same.

Love me

as though I am the oxygen

you need to survive -

like every time you breath me in

isn't quite enough.

Love me

but do not say the words

until they accidentally tumble from your lips,

like you simply can't bear

to keep them in any longer.

Love me

as if my body and soul are a map

and all you want

is to conquer the world.
