MOTHER NATURE ~ was understandably worried !
She called the Princes of the North - South - East & West
to an urgent Conference re. The Future of PLANET EARTH !
First item on the Agenda ~ Was the effect that ~
Homo Sapiens was having on the Environment.
The problem is ~ said NORTH ~ Mankind has opted out
of the Natural Food Chains & Cycles ~ so its Population
is increasing exponentially ! SOUTH tabled the Statistics.
A Century ago (1920) Population was 1.8 billion
which was sustainable. Now its 7.8 billion and rising !
This is unsustainable. They have exceeded our Resources.
WEST raised another issue of concern ~ TECHNOLOGY !
Its not that there*s Too Many Humans ~ Its what they*re doing !
Burning our Fossil Fuels for Transport ~ Electricity & Manufacture.
This coupled with Urbanisation & Deforestation ~ has increased
Atmospheric CO2 from an Equilibrium 250 ppm to 415 ppm !
Because the Free Energy ~ we supply from the SUN is constant
this has resulted in increasing GLOBAL WARMING to restore EQUILIBRIUM !
EAST (who was always a Prophet of Doom) tabled the consequences.
Desertification - Melting Ice Caps - Sea Level rise - Habitat destruction -
Coastal Flooding & Erosion ~ Fiercer Hurricanes & Tornadoes etc etc !
Is MANKIND aware of all this ? Asked Mother Nature. YES ! Replied NORTH
but their resolve & intent ~ to reduce Global CO2 ~ is inconsistent !
Well ~ said Mother Nature ~ I have a PLAN to halt Transport & Production &
reduce the Population by a few million Seniors ~ which should bring
MANKIND to its senses ~ BUT ~ I must have Full N S E W Agreement.
She tabled a Document headed *COVID 19 ~ The Final Solution !*
N S E W read it ~ in shocked silence. *GLOBAL SHUTDOWN* ~ It went
against all they had worked for for over A MILLION YEARS !
WELL ? Asked Mother Nature. The assent of N S E W was UNANIMOUS !

An informative write A&B.
This made me think of a verse written by Paul about 2,000 years ago: 'For we know that the whole creation groans and travails in pain together until now' (Romans 8 v.22). An eschatological (end-times) verse there - and a long word too!
Thanks for your comment Uncle Steve & for putting it into a Spiritual Context. I brought it to a point where Nature (or Ghia) was using CORVID 19 to suspend Human Actvity and thereby reduce CO2 output by about 66% (i.e. 2/3). Trees will still absorb CO2 so it will be interesstng to see if the CO2 has fallen (by the end of July) to < 418 ppm. If it has Mother Nature ~ will be vindicated for using COVID 19 despite the death of so many Grandparents. This is why my Poem is a Lament ~ OK. In CHINA the lockdown has already reduced CO2 emissions by 25% and NO2 emissions by 37% ~ AMEN.

Thanks for your supportive comment FAY ! Few People realise that the HUMAN POPULATION has quarupled (1.8 B to 7.8 B) in the last 100 years so it could be 16 billion by 2120 ! There is a link between Population Growth - Climate Change & CORVID 19. Population Growth has aceelerated the Speed & Need for MORE Consumer Goods and MORE Food. The former has resulted in more CO2 and the latter in unhygenic overcrowded Food Markets in WUHAN (China) where the virus mutation started. CORVID 19 has now spread to the Whole World ~ just as the CO2 produced by UK Industry & Transport spreads to the whole World. We have misused Our Planet & its Precious & Finite Resources. It is interesting that in CHINA the *lockdown* has reduced CO2 emissions by 25% & NO2 by 37% so it is having some positive effect !

Verde - Verde - Verde is what we all need to be - to prevent the spread of C~19 and preserve the Planet for our Grandchildren. Mother Nature has given us a WAKE UP call - lets hope we dont go back to our our old ways (being TEXAN - BIGGER & BETTER !) but lets be more like the IOWIANS (dryin* the tea bags & usin* *em twice !) We have Friends in IOWA and they live like the Amish !
