In adolescence he created
the myth
That untamed
—devoured him
(Dreamsleep: April, 2020)
This Moment
How real can you be…
how prescient can you become
How long can the moment last
—to choose or to then believe
(Dreamsleep: April, 2020)
Divinus
Ambient poetry,
truth on the vine
Words of the moment
—vintage divine
(Dreamsleep: April, 2020)
The Edge
Did you baptize the moment,
did you remake the night
Did you give truth a name,
did your secrets escape
Did you forever divide,
leaving zero to burn
Did you dance through the flames
—to the edge of goodbye

Kurt,
Four great reads.
I do love your
āDreamsleepā writes!
He certainly was ādevouredā!
He was something else,
to say the least!
Stay safe and strong!

I met him in 1969 while surfing Huntington Beach. He was playing a role that then became him. Most great actors will tell you that that is a danger you have to be aware of. He started out as a film student, and theater was a big part of his performance. I do believe what he wanted most was to be recognized as a poet. I have an early copy of 'The Lords And The New Creatures' signed not by him but by Pamela Courson. He was very influenced by the French contemporary PoetsāRimbaud more than the rest.
He lived under the misconception (IMO) that self-destruction was the only way to create great art.
In spite of all that, he accomplished a lot in 27 years.
When you met him in 1969, was it before or after he filmed āAn American Pastoralā?
