I asked for this to happen
I tempted fate
Flew too close to the sun
Played with fire
I disguised truths
Faked my strength
Pretended myself in
Wore the mask that didn’t fit
Feelings come like waves
I got caught in the undertow
I dove too deep
Lost my ability to breathe
And I washed up
Dazed but not drowned
The whirlpool a memory
And my feet on the ground
I waded into the water
Told myself I could swim
I feigned a false reality
And tried to coast on it
I knew better all along
Realized more than my eyes observed
Love is a fickle fragmented friend
And intuition is my lover
