What If

hpoetry

What if

I open my eyes

and the world is as beautiful

as I had wished it to be

in all those years of darkness?

What if

I do not let time pass me by,

living each day as though

it matters?

Because

it matters.

What if

I stop holding my breath

and I let the air

fill my lungs

and I let the scent of flowers

enter my body

and I let the sun

surround me

like the water

in the lake

which sparkles

like the dewdrops on the grass

of a fresh spring morning

under the light of the sun?

And what if

I open my eyes

and the world is as beautiful

as I had always pictured it to be.
