Parting Wish (+3)

Kurt Philip Behm

When lost inside a world of dreams,

the Muse becomes my guide

As days and nights stand juxtaposed,

the sun and moon collide

And though my eyes desert me now,

the past and future blind

My parting wish is not to wake

—this sleep forever mine

(Villanova Pennsylvania: April, 2017)

Breathless

The lungs don’t work

—when the heart is broken

(Dreamsleep: April, 2020)

The Call Of Tomorrow

Divorced from my shadow,

estranged from the words

My heart to philander

—new innocence heard

(Dreamsleep: April, 2020)

Forever Wondering Why

Run away from the what,

let the how lead the way

Keep the questions before you

and the answers at bay

Deem your motion perpetual

with all stops left behind

As those presents unwrapped

open up in your mind

May the wind rise to greet you

and your sun never set

On those places now virgin

and a lover unmet

May the wisdom of sages

be your rallying cry

As you course through the ages

—ever wondering why

(Train-New Haven: March, 2015)

    Kurt,

I embrace and always look forward to your ‘Dreamsleep’ poems!

    • “Parting Wish”
    As your last couplet declares...
There are many times that I too wish not to let go of some of my dreams—especially those that are so special to me!

    Thank you for sharing.

    Take good care of yourself.
