Every daughter
Of mother Earth
Every sister
In every hue
Every mother
Old and new
Stand together
Side by side
And let them see
Let it come to light
That no matter our story
No matter our hair
No matter our size
Be us dark or fair
No matter our dollars
No matter our age
No matter our work
No matter our shape
There is one story
That each of us shares
One common thread
That they can call theirs
Every sister
Across this land
Has been broken
By a man
Be it her father
Her lover, her friend
Her brother, a stranger
Her very own kin
Every sister
Knows how it feels
To be cracked wide open
To have it all revealed
To be eaten away at
Like a vulture’s meal
To place her trust in his hands
And see him hold it tender
To watch him close his fist
And crush it, and end her
To build herself again
Piece by piece, brick by brick
To paint over the scars
And to starve herself sick
Every sister, every girl
Every woman in the world
Has held herself together
With her own bare hands
And crumbled at the thought
Of that one, that one man
So sisters, stand together
And hold each others' hands
Sisters, dry your tears
And let’s make them understand
Every sister, listen close
You are more than that man
Every sister, hear me now
We are where the Earth began

It is important for women to speak their piece at this time of reckoning. As a man I pledge not to be defensive, not to deny, not to make excuses or claim to be the exception, not to argue with your premise... I pledge to listen. I appreciate you being so clear, so firm, so emphatic with such a vital message.
Thank you so much for your insightful and respectful comment!
