Kilimanjaro

rrodriguez

Pride of a nation
Reigning in Tanzania
Divinely crowned with
A silvery adorned wreath,
Graying before time expires

Rise, rise up above
Stand tall and kiss the heavens
Queen of Africa
Let the nations bow to you
And praise your stunning beauty

Mnara wa Mungu
An immortal chiseled stone
A great masterpiece
Mungu, creator,
Sculpted majestically

Wow an awesome beautiful tribute eloquently phrased ! Great how you described the mountain so aptly . Kudos for this poetic marvel.
I've settled in Tanzania for two decades now and the mountain is the pride here. I have mentioned it in my poems also.

Thank you, Z. Did I get the Swahili portion right? I aimed to make the poem express the awesomeness of Kilimanjaro.

A simply beautiful Poem Roberto. I especially love
    these two lines...
    "A silvery adorned wreath,
    Graying before time expires"

One of my books was set in Tibet and Nepal, and
Mt. Everest (Sagarmatha ) played a big part in
    the story.

I'm thrilled your doing, and writing, so well.

    Thanks for the lead...

    Kurt

Thank you Kurt. You always go for the succinct. Did you read The Snows of Kilimanjaro by Ernest Hemingway? I'm going to track down one of your books and read it. Thanks 😊
