Don't Erase Me

C.J. Knudsen

I’m here, even though your heart darkens me out

Our memories, are still my memories

The suns warmth that kissed your skin while,

you kissed me is still the same sun

There will always be new songs, new books, and new looks

The way you smell after a summer rain storm

will forever be in my skin

Eventually my heart will stop, but don’t erase it

Will you have suffered enough,

to let the light re-enter and spark life

You had the choice

Don’t forget about the drive we took to nowhere

Don’t forget about the dreams we shared with no one

The songs we didn’t dance to

The sunsets we never saw

Don’t erase me
