unrequited

Hazel Kaye

Honey

could never taste as sweet

as the nothings you whisper against my lips

at 2am

when the world is asleep

and we are slowly learning

how to wake each other up.

But an anchor

could never feel as heavy

as missing you on my lunch break

and knowing

I'm only ever on your mind

when nothing else is.

Intense and heartbreaking. Loved the metaphors of honey and anchor.
