The year

eve21359

The Year The year we leave  The year we start new From the beginning to the end I stand true The year we long for to say goodbye  The year we planned to start a new life We planned on a time were we were to say goodbye And walk off the stage To walk a knew path in life Our time was taken  Our path has been changed  Our last goodbyes were not true In hopes to see one another again soon As we try to stay connected But keep our distance too  In hopes for the corona does not get to you. People may think and have their theories too But one thing will always be true If we all come together then you will get corona too                                                                                E.T.     This is for all of the graduating students of 2020

  • Comment from author about the poem: To my fellow class mates and other students who are graduating the year of 2020. I longed for the day i would walk down the stage and out the doors. But sadly i wont happen. The excitement died when corona took over, so I created a poem to share how i feel about it and how other students may feel about it. For the last two years i sat in the band and listen to the graduation ceremony. I knew that one day I would be on the same stage and walk through the same doors as the graduates before me did. But now I know that wont happen. So I hope for all who come after me, will get a chance to do what I didn't. May they walk through those doors and on to a new path.

Eve, your little poem makes one want to fix it all now, for you and your class, for everyone whose path has been altered. Thank you for reminding us how no one is left untouched. If we all come together then you will get corona too. What a painful beautiful way of expressing the bitter frustration we feel.
