You Don't Have To Lie

ForeverJesus7

You don't have to lie,

about where you have been,

who you are,

or what you did.

You don't have to lie,

to make friends.

The truth always,

reveals itself,

in the end.

If you are boring,

then you are boring,

but people like the truth.

If you traveled the world,

then that's great,

but honestly,

nobody cares what you do.

You don't have to,

impress anyone.

It is easy to see right through.

Just be yourself around them,

and they will be themselves,

with you.

  • Comment from author about the poem: I actually thought of this piece after thinking of an old song from the nineties - 'You ain't got to lie to kick it', by Silk the Shocker. Although I do not really listen to that type of music anymore, the song is still true. Do not lie about who you are. Just tell the truth. The truth always reveals itself in the end anyway. The more that one lies, the uglier that the truth is when it does come into light. Persistence is key

I see what you mean, yes. If we do lie, we have to keep it up, and remember our false stories - making it more difficult for ourselves, as well as continuing to deceive others.

Also, nobody likes or respects a lier. Thank you for your comment.
