Eh? One of you said recently of the usefulness of repetition in Taize.
Yet is the repetition in some 'tired' choruses called battology, cos it will drive you batty?!
A church was 'lazy'. Just strummed on with almost the same choruses for 3 weeks in row. Enough to make me say 'OMG, not that chorus again!' (though I should not say OMG - say OMD - Oh My Days).
Good Evenig Uncle STEVE ~ Brain Here. Indeed repetition does have its place but there is a limit ! Everyone (6) in our Music Group is under 30 and they all go to Spring Harvest ! They are advised by the Deacons and we have restricted them to a MAX of three times for the same Chourus ~ even TAIZE ! Even Allelujah can lose it power if over-repeated ! Except in the Allelujah Chorus ~ AMEN !
Blessings to YOU & YOUR Woof Woof Woof !

Thanks B&A. Why yes, in an Easter hymn, one said 'Do we HAVE to have Alleluia at the end of every line?' Answer: Yes! I don't mind it so much in Taize, but not in some 'tired' and not very meaningful Choruses. But then we had the SAME Choruses, and repeat lines, about 3 weeks in a row. Boring! See, Fido continues his woofs! lol.
