This Is Me

Bragee

A lot of people meet someone new,

and the first thing they do

is play 21 questions.

However,

I was cut from a different cloth.

Born to Go against the grain,

Kind of strange,

But I prefer to prematurely surrender 12 facts associated with my name.

One...

Ever since I was a kid I've always hated to get my hands dirty.

No mud,

No bugs,

No Play-Doh,

No handshakes unless I have sanitizer everywhere I go.

Two....

Life is a dirty game that I've contemplated washing my hands of on several occasions.

Three...

I love my mom.

Main reason I'm still here.

I love my brother, sister, and father too,

but

I love my mom.

Three...

My mom hated majority of the girls I've dated.

Not to say that's where we're headed.

Just want you to have it in your head just in case.

Four...

Every time I leave the house I have to go back twice to make sure I locked the door.

I've been told that it's OCD,

But I see me

as too intelligent to be burdened by a flaw like being picky.

Five...

I really really really prefer to drive.

So I'll pick you up.

Six...

The last three girls I allowed to steer my life in any direction all decided to drive me crazy.

Swerved off road

head first

face down in a ditch.

Seven....

I'm always a nervous wreck.

My palms are always sweaty so I will rarely hold your hand.

I won't speak in front of a crowd unless I'm drunk...completely shit canned.

but to you

I'll ramble on even when my inner demons are screaming for me to shut up.

oh fuck,

That's what I'm doing now huh?

Eight....

I love the world a little more when I'm intoxicated.

Nine...

I took it a step further than making peace and made friends with my inner demons.

we talk quite often.

Ten...

I'm the most popular loner I know.

I've got friends always sending invites but I rarely ever go.

Not truly how I prefer to be.

It's just that going doesn't always feel like me.

eleven...

I don't like my food to touch.

I separate my skittles,

My Starburst,

Even my fruit snacks get divided up by fruit too.

Still doesn't make that OCD thing true.

I just have a tough time with things mixing.

Twelve....

I'm a huge football fan.

A Seattle Seahawks man.

Not to say that the NFL is more important than G-O-D,

but i know my Sunday seat at the church sometimes misses me.

Not perfect but this is me.

Hopefully,

you don't think less of me.

Maybe you'll even understand why my fear of rejection will prevent me from mentioning a second date.

Or how I'll type up a follow up text then contemplate and debate

myself into not sending it.

It was nice to meet you....

Wow wow wow what a creative impressive fabulous muse on your style and personality. My daughter washes her hands a lot too and some say that could be OCD but it's ok even if it is, she's a great lovely neat girl.
I liked how you played with words with the 'drive ' in analogy. Kudos!

Plz Pleez do read and comment my newest poem too.

      Thank you for your time!

I love OCD as I see it as a blessing more than a cure, especially during Covid-19!

I will definitely check out your work!

No fear of rejection from me! This is really a smart little poem; a good confessional always makes the reader feel at ease, and even a little superior... one question: will you kneel when they play the national anthem? I bet you might!
