Whispers of the Wind

Narcisa

Once upon a time I lived on a small farm

Brothers there were three, then there was me

Goats and chickens soon died off

There was this one hen that refused to croak

My favorite place to be were with the kittens birthed in the barn

We had a fat dog all he was good for was eating and spreading his seed

Most importantly he was always a friend to whoever was in need.

I use to pick flowers in my mom's garden

Little did I know they were strawberries yet to be

I got to stay in this safe haven until kindergarten

Sometimes I felt the wind would speak to me in it's mysterious ways

My favorite nights were going on the trampoline to stargaze

I had my own bed, yet somehow always managed to squeeze in tight with my three brothers

There was no concept of time just what next adventure was destined to be mine.

There were sheds I never got the chance to explore

A horse that never got to run through the field it was meant for

I remember feeling so close to the dirt

waiting for the long winters to end

All the heartaches that had not yet hurt

Sometimes I still hear the mountains call my name

If only I did more so the calls would not be made in vain

Im a city girl now and my family is broken

I wonder if they still hear it just as much as I do

The whispers of the wind, the world we once knew.
