Let Them See

SheWasTheSun

Slice me open

dig out my heart

and put it on display

It matters not

the pain I'll feel

For I feel it now, every day

Let them see

my swirling storm

my bruises and battered brain

Let them see

my weaponized thoughts

Let them see

I'm not okay

Let them see

these scabbed over wounds

that I still pick at, day after day

Let them see

this insecure child

starving, lonely, and afraid

Let them see

Let them marvel

Let them shudder in disgust

Let them ask

Let them inquire

Let them ogle and discuss

Slice me open

dig out my heart

and put it on display

For the pain of being vulnerable

is what makes it all okay
