you would fear it too
as inclined as you
were to rely in life
on intelligence. rife
with manipulation,
you abused your station.
suddenly, now face to
face with the One who
sees all things as they are,
as they really are,
you’d be fearful too.
you’d be fearful too.

- Comment from author about the poem: A poem containing two rhyming sestet stanzas reminding readers the prolongation of the physical body is in vain if we have already died spiritually through a life of unrepented sin.

You’re welcome Angela & Brian and I appreciate your read, comment and scriptural reinforcement. All the best to you both and His abundant grace.
A fine write Gary.
In one church, rather preaching to the 'converted', in the sense of 'we already know all that', it's as though some may reply to the Minister: 'Yes, but we wish you wouldn't remind us EVERY time'. A 'fire and brimstone' preacher.
That's a true definition of a 'Bible-basher' I think, bashing the congregation over their heads with the Bible - not literally though!
Yes. Hopefully, the artful and most definitely brief way we write verse these days will have the same effect without the violence of the occasional bible-bashing that you refer to. For a Catholic writer you either write about the faith in an ‘in your face’ kind of way’, sell very little (or nothing at all -in my case) and make very few friends in the process or you write more like say the great Flannery O’Connor or J.R.R. Tolkien and feed it to them without them knowing about it and sell tens of thousands of your work. I’m definitely one whom enjoys writing in the obscurity of first camp. Thanks it’s always a pleasure getting your read and comments.
