What Could Have Been

jes

What happens to one who has love but does not always free himself to show it?
What happens when the day changes and that which he failed to expose yesterday is now a regret?
When love turns to longing, wishes, nostalgia, a promise to do better.
The character has not changed, that which is there lurks just below the surface and the tears that flow at the drop of a hat evidence the pain that is this esse.
Wishing the feelings were freer, that they’d percolate to the top sometimes as when they do they are almost a surprise.
An entity, a soul, a person locked in his emotions;
Feeling from within things that should be released for all those present to experience and enjoy.
But leaving all to guess at the breadth of those guarded emotions, and to create, as they depart, an image in their minds of what could have been.
