The Heartbeat of Freedom

poetboy5454

A gentle rumble rocking the earth

Can you feel its cry beneath your feet

A heartbeat from a womb before birth

A call that infuses your blood with heat

It is the blowing air across the plain

It is everything to lose and everything to gain

It is the waves of the sea against the shore

It is a peace only achieved through war

Run from it, run across the hills

Run through the forests as you will

Circle the earth only to end at the start

This is a feeling that will never depart

This is a flame that will burn through the rain

It is an earthquake that brings chaos to order

It is the land to which there is no border

It surrounds you, it fills you, it's born inside you

The heartbeat of freedom shines through

It is the longing to turn your eyes up to the sky

As the wings of your soul struggle to fly

It is a beast uncaptured by words

Defying any limits or cages as it soars

Gentle as a whisper, mighty as a roar

Flee like a moth rejecting the light

Only to return from the terrors of the night

It is a chain and it is a key

The raging heartbeat of the free
