I am a person who is lost
I wonder how I got to these depths
I hear voices, so far away
I see me, but I’ve been seen too many times, not enough times, never before
I am a person who is lost
I pretend the world is free
I feel so small, too big
I touch my memories, my thoughts
I worry I won’t ever escape
I cry to finally be free
I am a person who is lost
I understand I have the life of so manys dreams
I say I know who I am, where I am, and I love who I am
I dream that one day that will be true
I try to see the bright side
I hope I can fake it long enough to make it
I am a person who is lost

- Comment from author about the poem: It can mean whatever you want it to. That is the beauty of poetry. It's also my first poem ever so... minimal judgment? I would REALLY appreciate some helpful criticism though since I'm new.

ANGELA (32) HERE (I share this site wih my Husband Brian & our Cat SMOKEY !) Welcome to MPS it is an interactive site - pleae check our POEMS ! Thanks for your first Poem.It is wll written in Modern Free Verse style. I like the SUBJECT and the con cept of being *LOST* socially & politiclly as a Teen ! I too was lost @ 13 but someting gave me a focus ! *I aked my Mother what will I be* She didnt say - Fate *Que Sera - Sera* ! She knew my caring Nature & love of People and said *You would make a good Doctor or Nurse or a Paramedic*. I needed Physiotherapy ~ following a Sports Accident and thought - thats a JOB I would enjoy doing ! So I had my focus and I graduated in 2009 when I was 21. You*re never too Young to start thinking about and preparing for a Profession. We all need a FOCUS or we stay LOST ! Thanks for caring - More POEMS PLEASE ! What State do you live in ? In the UK we are all praying for an end to the Civil Unrest following the Murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis.
Blessings & Peace & Joy
Yours Angela & Brian & Smokey !
Thank you for that! I will take your advice to heart. I Live in Washington State, to answer your question. I have two more poems I've written, but the rest of my poems aren't as structured or "poetic." I will check out your poems, and you seem like nice people. In America, it has been a time of mixed opinions, but also a time of eye-opening. You know what, I might even write something about that. Thank you again.
