Veil Our Faces

SofieSkye

We languish in solutide,
the days crumbling into dust.
Our lives set to a pause,
a world fret in mistrust.

The weighted stares we avoid
as the masks veil our faces.
A tape marks where to stand,
Distance expanding our spaces.

A new normal we are often told,
the strategy to flatten the curve.
With jobs lost, unrest, and death,
Will there be anything to conserve?

Now with talk of a second wave,
the lock downs will hit us more.
A wave that grows as it moves
closer to our societal shores.

We've had enough of this wild ride,
the costs we can no longer bare.
My God deliver us from more pain
as we seek him in earnest prayer.
