As roses go
Beauty many can claim
But none so beautiful
As one that bears her name
For her smile
Can embarrass the sunrise
Make the stars jealous
Envious of her eyes
Her voice soft and true
Of comforting warm heart
Her mid-western drawl
Hooks you from the start
My own heart she stole
More than fifty years ago
Though just a boy
At fourteen I told her so
A rose of beauty certain to
Hold your concentration
Appropriately named
Rose of Sharon

That Rose has been always with you and may you go on to eternity.
Andy
Sharon has made her home in the core of my heart over 52 years ago. I don't think she plans on leaving, but that's ok with me. Thanks for reading and your comment Andy.
A lovely write AP. Is she Sharon, or 'Share-on'?!
Sharon. That's the way it is on the walls of my heart Orchi. Thanks for the read and your comment.
lovely, heartfelt poem for your first love. I hope she appreciates it! I pen similar lines for Lorraine, my first love. She smiles and says I'm crazy. My fave lines: "For her smile
Can embarrass the sunrise
Make the stars jealous
Envious of her eyes" Lovely lines dude.
Thanks Kevin, Hopefully you have Lorraine with you today. I haven't seen Sharon for 49 years, but the impact she had on me is as deep as can be. Thanks for the read and your comments. Much appreciated.
