Brimelow

Raft

If I was lost at sea
and a palm tree drifted to me
I would not weave a sail of desperation
To aim my hope and guide my heart

I would plant it on my raft
and marvel at the shady gaze
As I drifted through the sun-kissed coconuts
of my life

I would cast a net without thought
I would release the fish that I caught
I would build a plastic paddle
Then discard it to the depths

What is paradise?

It is not an island
It is not something we have lost

It is why we are sailing

It is what we find when we drift
without thought
It is what we find when we are lost
in the ocean

Of our life

Having read you 2nd poem on MPS and thoroughly enjoyed it i delved deeper..... and wasn't disappointed. This piece is even better ... full of positivity.
I'm going to put it among my favourites of poems posted on MPS.
    Keep posting your stuff.

Why thank you, that's a bright thing to read on a morning that can't decide whether to be bright or dull, I'm about to go for a walk and gamble on the former.

      Will do.
