Digital Screen

Alex Arnot

“Your clothes are lame

Your dance is gay.

Don’t know you, but I don’t like your face.”

“Keep doing what you love to do

And I will hide and laugh at you

From these digital eyes I see life through.”

When did the world become so toxic?

Why are people so obnoxious?

This digital screen you hide behind

Where all you do is criticize

Every aspect of everyone else’s lives.

Sitting still as the sands of time

Waste away and pass you by.

“My thoughts are my words

And my word is law.

The law decrees that you suck shit through a straw.”

“What’s the matter, don’t like what I say?

Not like you’ll find me anyway.

The digital screen will hide my face

The digital screen will keep me safe.”
