Song, A Promise

AwHec8

Well He busted the hold of sin with His loving sacrifce,

His blood paid so we are not a worldly tool,

We learned more from a three minute message of Christ,

Than anything ever learned in school,

Will you hear His trumpet sound,

In a twinkling lifted off of this Earth's ground,

You say you’re tired and you just want to close your eyes,

And be in Spirit along with Jesus in the skies,

Well He made a promise we swore we’d always remember.

No Retreat; in Jesus No surrender,

Like soldiers in a winter’s last night with a vow to defend,

No Retreat; nothing left to comprehend,

Now young faces grow sad and old,

And hearts of fire grow cold,

We swore blood brothers in you sweet Lord,

I’m ready to hear the call as my reward,

Can you hear Christ’s voice calling us Home,

No longer left here in the clutches of Rome,

Across this whole world wide,

He’s calling us Home to be His Bride,

‘Cause He made a promise we swore we’d always remember,

No Retreat; in Jesus No surrender,

Blood brothers in the stormy night with a vow to defend,

No Retreat; no we will not bend,

On the streets tonight the lights grow dim,

The walls of sin are closing in,

There’s a war outside still raging,

You say it ain’t ours anymore to win,

I want to stand beneath peaceful skies,

In my Lover’s eyes,

With a wide open heart ‘cause we just wed,

And all these Loving dreams in my head,

‘Cause Jesus made us all a promise we swore we’d always remember,

No Retreat; in Jesus No surrender,

Blood brothers in the stormy night with a vow to defend,

No Retreat; nothing left to portend,

No Retreat; yes Jesus ‘cause of you no surrender!

    Good write Aw.
And yet we can have up to 30 mins message in some churches - and still not learn much! Maybe we're asleep in the sermons? If they were more interesting we would stay awake! Doh!
This could be a sort of modern 'Onward, Christian Soldiers!'

      Why Thank You orchidee. Don
Absolutely right, on your comment of if we are some times asleep at the wheel, so to speak. I know I have had to be shaken awake with the "am I boring you" line from a Pastor. Or maybe at the time my brain was just overloaded with what the sermon was?

I'm glad someone's brain was maybe overloaded from a sermon, then! lol. In some places we come away empty-headed, and may feel we have just been 'messing about' with rituals. Doh!
