Once Love

MelissaJA

There was a time
Not long ago
When I thought I was in love.
The flurry of butterflies in your stomach,
Deep drums pounding within your chest,
The jelly that was once your legs.
But now
Only a few years later
It’s not the same.
Those butterflies have all flown away,
The drums beat quieter every day
And those legs of jelly
Have hardened like stone.
What happened to what once was love?

It changes. it changes us, teaches us and sometimes deserts us, only to once again teach us. Do we ever stop learning about love? I haven't.
Some say .... lifes a bitch, then you die..... but shes a wonderful bitch and theres been sunshine and butterflies along the way.

Perhaps we get new eyes to see differently as time does its stuff and wisdom creeps up on us.
