I canโ€™t remember me

A passing lyric

You told me you'd be gone

by the morning's first light

but I knew that was a lie

when I heard you leave last night.

I thought we might see winter

and we might have had it all

but little did I know

we didn't make it past the fall.

One day we were laughing

nothing else existed

I always felt safe

because you insisted.

you were my safety net

whenever I let go

I wish I told you then

how I loved you so.

But now it's over

now it's done

you took with you the moon

you took with you the sun.

Now it's unfamiliar

and a rainy shade of grey

the night is so long

and I can't remember day.

I can't remember you

I can't remember we

I can't remember us

I can't remember me.
