Chocolate City Baby

Narcisa

Welcome to Chocolate City

We walk proud within these brick walls

Where shorty makes a living walking down peach street, depending on a dogs call.

Have you ever seen the life leave someone’s eyes?

Palm trees and nice breezes don’t get it confused with beach side

This is where those with thicker skin reside

Chocolate runs the city but don’t forget about that caramel swirl

It’s really the best of both worlds

Everyone you know goes 6 feet deep faster than the shadows even reep

Welcome to Chocolate City!

We stand strong within these brick walls

We can’t shed any tears when death calls

The street soldiers only have one goal

The white man wants to see them on death row

Young gems are hidden cuz we can’t afford to tamper with something so pretty

To lose a diamond on the streets would be the biggest pity

There’s fire works every night, let’s not forget about the flashing lights

Life is a gamble and luck is scarce

Have you ever had to wipe the tears from a weeping woman’s eyes while she's received a message that her son has died?

Welcome to Chocolate City

Even when you stay out of trouble, trouble follows

It’s a one way ticket, no vacations

We the people, in our secret nation.

Leave while you can

You only have one shot in this life

Don’t lose it by being in the wrong place, wrong time as your welcomed with a knife.

The man who has no teeth wasn’t born crazy

Take it from me a graduate Chocolate City baby.

this is so raw, so true, so controlled: dripping with flow and beaming with its power of unfiltered veracity,
'You only have one shot in this life

The man who has no teeth wasn’t born crazy

    brilliant write!
