Some of my thoughts as an African American teenage girl in America

Xlayla55x

“Y’all get free college and free jobs just because you’re black right?”

Well you got free labor and a free country just because you’re what? White?

When i say “Gurrrll”

im ghetto, you spite me

But when it’s the white girls and “the gays”

It’s spunky and spicy

“Don’t like racism?

Stop talking about it”

That’s like telling rape victims

“Hush now, be silent”

Quick lesson:

“Why do you make everything about race?”

Good question!

Cuz  y’all started it in the first place

It’s interesting that if I’m smart,

I’m smart “for a black girl”

Pretty “for a black girl

but wish she could tame those ugly curls”

It’s funny that if an innocent black man is murdered

Somehow “he was a criminal”

But i thought “All Lives Matter”

So why’s the sound so minimal?

  • Comment from author about the poem: This will either reach a lot of people or spark controversy either way i meant it. These are things that have been said to me or that have hurt my feelings. Each stanza was written at completely random times and there’s not really any sort of order to it. I’m angry.

You've every right to be angry and express it wherever and whenever you wish to. Here on MPS you'll find support. It's good to read authentic straight from the heart words of one who lives in the words she shows us.
    Yes, it hits home.

ANGELA here - Good Morning Friend thanks for a very thought provoking Poem! It must be difficult for someone as Beautiful - Kool & Smart as you ar to be judged by *The Color of Your Skin & NOT the Quality of Your Character* In the UK we had hoped that when Obama was elected that MLKs Dream wuld have been fulfilled but it wasnt. We have noticed - when we visit the USA - that the Afro-Americans & Hispanics tend to do the lower paid jobs & are often treated with disrespect by Whites. Im half Spanish so I can empathise. Trump is a White Man in A White House who oft wears a White Suit for Him & His Cohorts WHITE LIVES will always matter more than BLACK ! You can reverse matters by Prayer & Voting for Joe Biden & the Lovely KAMAL HARRIS (who could one day be PRESIDENT) in November - AMEN!

Blessings & Joy & Peace to You & Yours
Love ANGELA & BRIAN (UK) 💛💛💛

      poignant and timely,
written with so much control, whilst in that whirlpool of untamed rage - each line must have raised
