Journey to Shadow

Edthepoet

She said there's monsters here

Living in my head

They won't disappear

They pull at my thread

Another night in tears

Unravelled sweet descent

I know they can hear

I can't catch my breath

So I let them near

So I play pretend...

Pretending I'm not scared

They show me everything

And my vision it..

Returns to me..

There were monsters here..

But I let them in

They live in between

Every word unsaid

Every sight unseen.

A startling concluding stanza. Knowing where the monsters reside may come in handy. I appreciate the subtle dance between the speaker and the monsters. I know they can hear. That is a profound observation.
